If you are simply seeking peace of mind and to feel refreshed, I would say meditate in solitude. Go to the beach or to a park. Spend time in silence.
In order to be successful at meditating, it helps to know what meditation is and the workings of the mind.
The mind is a vehicle through which we perceive and analyze that which we perceive. The problem is that we are too much in our mind. We see something or read something and it triggers thought. The more we perceive in terms of information the more thoughts appear in mind. This causes stress, uncertainty, fear, anxiety and depression.
The only way to quiet the mind is to "empty" it...even just for a few moments brings about great peace and new insights.
To meditate simply focus your attention on one thing...and only one thing. This can be anything. As other thoughts arise watch them come and go. Leave them alone and try not to engage with them, if you do they will pull your attention away from what you are trying to focus on. And that is o.k. too. When that happens just simply put your focus of attention on the object again.
Meditation takes practice. Just know that your mind is used to being all over the place and in control. It's time you take that control back : )
